International Air Traffic Growth

With the increase in the tariffs due to the high crude oil prices, the domestic passenger traffic has reduced to a large extent. But to the surprise of many, it has been found the there has been an increase in the international air traffic. There has been a healthy growth of 20% in the international air traffic. This trend has been noticed in Kochi.
According to recent records, the international air traffic has increased by 13.3% in Chennai. On the other hand, Delhi airport witnessed a growth of 8%. But it was also noticed that the domestic air traffic had a negative growth rate. It was found that in Chennai airport, there was a declination of 5.24% in domestic traffic rate. Delhi, however, managed to maintain a growth rate of 8%.
According to one of the spokesperson of the Singapore Airlines, the cost of tickets of the international flights has been moderated to a large extent. According to them, the cost has remained more or less the same. Most of the international carriers have maintained same capacity of air traffic on the routes connecting India. Some of the airlines like Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways have planned to increase flights to India.
